Every Friday we will be turning into Scientists for out topic 'In the Countryside'.
We will explore different kinds of plants, their structure and what they need to survive. Our
learning will take us outside to observe our surroundings and we will be conducting several
exciting experiments! We will link our learning about plants, to animals and think about what
they rely on to survive in their different habitats.
We can't wait!
Home Learning - Thank you to those children who have been completing their home learning
each week. We will continue to hand out a Maths activity and 5 weekly spellings to practise
Reading – Keep it going with your daily reading, and parents please start to ask your children
questions about the books they have read. This will help to develop their comprehension skills.
Remember to record in their reading record too.
#30things - Please continue to complete the Spring #30things at home. We are loving seeing
all of the challenges you have ticked off so far!
Home learning needs to be returned by Wednesday and new work will be given out on a
Reading at home and home learning is vital to the progression of your child.

As part of their topic work, Year 1 visited York National Railway Museum where they had a workshop on George Stephensons Rocket.
Year 1 took a trip to Leeds City Museum as part of their Science Topic work on animals.
Class of 2016/17
Year 1 have been on their end of the year trip to Filey and although the sun did not shine the children had a fab time as you can see by the smiles on the childrens faces.
As part of our Topic on plants in Summer Term 1, we visited Skelton Grange where we investigated plant life in the pond. We learnt all about germination and we saw Howard the 100 year old tree.
As part of our Topic we visited Newmillerdam where we searched for the characters' homes, built a den for a character and went on a scavenger hunt.

A trip to Oakwell Hall
