Forget Britain's Got Talent.... It's all about Year 1's got Resilience!
For out first topic this year, Year 1 are focussing on their 'Growth Mindset'. First we will be reading the story, 'Giraffe's can't dance' and looking at how Gerald the Giraffe never gives up, even when he finds dancing so hard! To help us practise our persevering skills, we are lucky enough to have a dance group come in to teach us a Lion King dance which we will be performing to parents. More information to follow. Finally, we will be looking at things we find hard and what we can do to get better at it. We will then perform these skills in our 'Year 1's got Resilience' show! As you can tell, it is going to be a really exciting half term for us!

Reading books and homework
Your child will be given:
- a reading record
- a reading book
- a learning Journal
The reading record shows how much reading your child is doing at home.
We expect all children to read for 10 minutes - 3 times a week. You need to write the date, the name of the book and what pages they have read with a short comment on how they have done in their reading record and this needs to be handed in once a week. New reading records will be handed out next week.
Each Friday your child will be given 3 key tasks based on phonics / spelling, maths (speedy spider) and a reading book. They will also be given a choice of 16 activities from the #30 activities to do in their learning Journal. Homework needs to be handed back into school by the following Wednesday.
