This half term, we will be doing lots of preparation ready for the Year 2 SATs after Easter. We will be
learning how to answer test questions and will be continuing to work really hard practicing basic skills.
However, there will still be lots of fun days. We will be getting visitors from the Dogs Trust on 7th
March. LJ will bring her dog in and teach us all about how to look after dogs and keep safe around
We will then begin looking at different charities and how we could raise money for them. The children
will organise their own stalls at a fair. Please begin collecting any unwanted Christmas presents or toys.
In RE we will continue to learn about Special Places. We will look at Christianity and Islam and will visit
a mosque for the morning to compare a Muslim’s place of worship with a Christian’s place of worship. A
separate letter will be sent out with details regarding the visit.
Reading books and homework
Your child will be given:
- a reading record
- a reading book
- a learning journal
The reading record shows how much reading your child is doing at home.
We expect all children to read for 10 minutes - 3 times a week. You need to write the date, the name of the book and what pages they have read with a short comment on how they have done in their reading record and this needs to be brought to school every day.
We are starting our new homework scheme!
Each Friday your child will be given a new challenge to do in their new learning journal. These need to be handed back into school the following Wednesday.
Other homework sheets may be handed out to consolidate learning in class.
