After working really hard on our SATs before half term, we're fnishing off most of our topics so that the
children are ready for Year 3! We are doing lots of maths and reading work on an afternoon to help us with
our fuency. In Science, we have looked at habitats and we had a great time visiting Leeds museum. We'll be
continuing some of this topic in July. In the next few weeks, we will be beginning our coal mining topic!
During this topic, we will be learning all about the local history of mining and visiting Middleton Park and The
National Coal Mining Museum.
Reading books and homework
Your child will be given:
- a reading record
- a reading book
- a learning journal
The reading record shows how much reading your child is doing at home.
We expect all children to read for 10 minutes - 3 times a week. You need to write the date, the name of the book and what pages they have read with a short comment on how they have done in their reading record and this needs to be brought to school every day.
We are starting our new homework scheme!
Each Friday your child will be given a new challenge to do in their new learning journal. These need to be handed back into school the following Wednesday.
Other homework sheets may be handed out to consolidate learning in class.
