Reading Books, Spellings and Homework
Your child will be given:
- a reading record
- a reading book
- a learning journal
The reading record shows how much reading your child is doing at home.
We expect all children to read for 10 minutes - 3 times a week. You need to write the date, the name
of the book and what pages they have read with a short comment on how they have done in their
reading record and this needs to be handed in once a week. Books will be changed, ready to be sent
out every Friday.
Each Friday your child will choose a challenge from their #30things grid and will record this in
Spellings will now be taught 4 times a week in class. This means that no spelling homework will be
given out. Additionally, your child will be given Maths homework in the form of a
‘Speedy Spider’ on a Friday.
These activities are very important in helping your child improve at school and we hope you will
support us by helping your child at home.
