This half term, our main topic in Year 4 is the Ancient Greeks. We will also be learning about SRE
(Sex and Relationships Education) which focuses on the changes our body goes through as we grow
up. In Maths, we will be using place value to round numbers to the nearest 10,100 and 1000 and
looking at halving and doubling. We will then be working with shapes and their properties. In
English, we will be writing a losing/finding story and writing instructions.
Important dates for you diary
Thursday 8th Feb - Open morning
Reading Books, Spellings and Homework
Your child will be given:
- a reading book
- #30things homework challenge
- Key 3 activities
We expect all children to read for 10 minutes - 3 times a week. Books will be changed, ready to be sent out every Friday.
Each Friday, your child can choose an activity to do from the #30things grid. We look forward to seeing the pictures of the children completing their challenges! These need to be handed back into school the following Tuesday.
Spellings will now be taught 4 times a week in class. This means that no spelling homework will be given out.
These activities are very important in helping your child improve at school and we hope you will support us by helping your child at home.
