What we expect from Parents & Carers at Hunslet Carr

Primary School


I. To ensure that their child arrives at school on time, properly dressed, with the right equipment and condition to learn.

II. To provide the school with a reason for any period of absence on the first day or, where possible, before the absence.

III. To accompany their child into school with a reason for any late arrival.

IV. To work closely with the school to resolve any problems that may impede their child's attendance.

Common Questions

Can I take my child on holiday during term time?

I. Parents/Carers do not have the right to take their child out of school for a holiday.

II. No holidays will be authorised during term time.

If parents/carers take their child from school without permission, their child’s absence will be recorded as unauthorised in the register and they may be liable to a fine.

Who Can Help?

Mrs L Lily – Attendance Officer can advise parents/carers on attendance matters.

Miss L Dean – Parent Support Advisor is available for any other support.

What if my child is ill, where do I call?

Please ring the school office or Mrs Lily and let us know as soon as possible, so we can authorise any absences.

What do I do if my child has medical or dental appointment?

Please try and arrange any medical or dental appointments outside of school hours. If this is not possible, you will need to inform Mrs Lily and/or the school office with a copy of your appointment card or letter.
