10 Reasons to join the PTA
1.Ok you pay your taxes but budgets at every school are tight. Money raised in school fundraisers is often used to pay for those little extras that can make a school a bit special, be it an interactive whiteboard or a school trip to the theatre.
2.Knowing that they can (within reason) predict a certain level of fundraised extra income each year will allow your school to plan an effective and realistic budget.
3.Helping at PTA fundraising events helps you get to know your kid's teachers better and understand the way the school works.
4.Being part of the PTA helps you get to know other parents and their children. This is important for school matters but also great for a more active social life!
5.By joining the PTA you have the chance to promote and enhance your school's standing within your local community and with school inspection teams.
6.Although occasionally embarrassed most children do actually like to know that you are there for them, taking an interest and sharing their experience.
7.Talking to other parents helps you and them. Sharing experiences and parenting tips helps us all.
8.The commitment is not too much. The occasional evening meeting and the odd summer fete or other school fundraiser.
9.Everyone has different talents and skills they can bring to the school and parents are a great interface between the school and the 'outside world'. Very handy for raffle prizes, sponsorship or professional help.
10. kids enjoy themselves at the school disco or prom night. Isn't this what its all about - part of the whole parenting package!
So isn’t it time you got involved? To find out more contact our School on 0113 2713804

A short message from our new Parent Support Advisor
Hello! My name is Carrie Brain I am the new Parent Support Adviser here at Hunslet Carr Primary School. I’ve been working with families for around 15 years in a variety of roles, and for the past eight I have been a Family Outreach Worker in North West Leeds. My role within the school has been developed to provide information, support and advice to all parents and carers in the community.
You will see me around school so please feel free to ask me anything or you can book an appointment to come and chat with me privately. I am in school Monday to Friday. I am available to listen to any worries or concerns you may have about your child’s learning, behaviour or welfare. My role is to support you and your family, providing a service that is tailored to meet your needs and always confidential. If you don’t have chance to catch me in school, you can contact me easily by telephone, text or email.
